Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening

How Does It Work?

Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure.  During the treatment, the precision device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between the device tip and skin to release a plasma charge.  Without actually touching the skin, this plasma arc superficially vaporizes the skin forcing it to contract and stimulates fibroblasts (the cells responsible for the production of collagen).  Small carbon crusts form on the skin, resembling dots, which slough away over the next 4-7 days to reveal regenerated skin.  This micro trauma and stimulation is the key to the treatments results.  The result is contraction and tightening of the skin cells with lifting and wrinkle reduction that is comparable to invasive surgery.

How Long Does It Last?

When done properly (including after care) you can expect your Fibroblast Skin Tightening results to last as long as they would with an invasive surgery.  The effects aren’t entirely permanent and won’t stop the ageing process.  However, the results you get should last you for many years.  Many clients enjoy a noticeable positive effect immediately after the first treatment and continue to improve during the healing period over the next 8-12 weeks.  Depending on the original condition of the skin, the body part treated, and desired results, additional treatments may be required.  Negative lifestyle choices such as too much sun, smoking, excess alcohol consumption are discouraged in order to maintain lasting results.  Those who want a treatment should also be aware that personal genetics can have an effect on the length of treatment benefits.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Fibroblast Skin Tightening has been proven to be a safe and non-invasive procedure in thousands of clients.  However, as with most cosmetic procedures, clients may experience some minor side effects in the first four to seven days after treatment.  There will be tiny brown marks in the treatment area.  This is the result of scabbing and will flake away over four to seven days, exposing a pink layer of healthy new skin.  Some clients  may also experience three to five days of swelling, especially with eyelid treatments.  To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare instruction given to you prior to your treatment.

***Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not get a treatment.  The treatment is also not advised for candidates with very dark skin.  This is because the risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation is much higher.

What To Expect On My Day Of Treatment?

Please come to your appointment with clean skin.  Do not wear makeup or use any creams/facial oil/etc. (especially those containing alcohol) on your day of treatment.  We suggest taking an antihistamine one hour before your appointment and continue to take antihistamines for two to three days after your appointment.  This will reduce swelling in the treatment area.

A numbing agent is placed on the treatment area for 30 minutes.  When the area is sufficiently numb the treatment will begin.  The treatment is virtually painless and there are no cuts nor blood.  Treatment time will last between 45 minutes up to several hours depending on the size of the treatment area.

During your first appointment you will be given aftercare instructions.  Following these instructions is critical for best results.  No exfoliators or harsh cleansers can be used in the week following treatment.  We recommend a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil.  You should also avoid rubbing or scratching the treated area.

Post-Treatment Expectations

Most clients achieve their desired results after just one treatment. However, depending on the area being treated, the skin’s laxity, and individual response to treatment, an additional 1-2 treatments may be required.  Most clients see results instantly, which continue to improve as the skin heals and collagen strengthens.  Final results are visible 8-12 weeks after treatment.  Follow up treatments may be performed after 12 weeks depending on your skin’s healing.  Follow up treatments are often offered at a discount.
